The classes listed above are all pistol training classes designed to meet the requirements of PA 381. The minimum requirements of PA 381 require 5 hours of classroom instruction and 3 hours of pistol firing exercises including firing 30 rounds of ammunition.

The act specifies the following:

  • Safe storage, use and handling of a pistol including, but not limited to, safe storage, use and handling to protect a child.
  • Ammunition knowledge, and the fundamentals of pistol shooting.
  • Firearms and the law, including civil liability issues and the use of deadly force.
  • Avoiding criminal attack and controlling a violent confrontation.
  • All laws that apply to carrying a concealed pistol in this state.
  • At least 8 hours instruction, including 3 hours of firing range; which requires firing at least 30 rounds of ammunition.
Prospective students should be aware that at CCW Solutions our class syllabus far exceeds the state mandated minimums. Many years of successful firearm instruction have given us the insight to define a training program which meets the state requirement, teaches the fundamentals, but most importantly, provides the student with the level of proficiency necessary to feel comfortable and confident in their abilities. We personalize our training to each individual, not a fixed curriculum that forces students to fit into a time line. It is our opinion, that most organizations providing CCW training provide insufficient live fire training, at indoor ranges (30 rounds on static targets) because this is the state requirement (minimum). Additionally, most indoor ranges limit the types of activities (due to liability issues) that shooters can perform. CCW Solutions prefer to conduct live-fire exercises at outdoor shooting facilities (unless inclement weather prohibits this). In addition to the requirements listed above, students considering enrolling in our basic pistol training courses should be prepared for the following:
  • Our classes cover extensive material that is covered in a methodical approach and at a relaxing pace. We strive for 100% student comprehension. Classroom activities last approximately 9 hours (although could go slightly longer).
  • Range activities last 4-5 hours and you will need 250 to 350 rounds of ammunition. Range is held on a separate day with dates presented during class. You will receive instruction in various aspects of shooting including:
    • Basic firearm operation / real time malfunction drills
    • Weapon retention
    • Multiple target engagement
    • Point shooting / defensive accuracy
    • Effective use of cover and concealment (shooting from barricade positions).
    • Practical shooting positions

  • Students are not required to have a firearm for class (see below). Our instructors' will cover information regarding firearms and concealed carry gear at length. We advise the student to not purchase equipment for this class. Firearms will be made available for class. Various firearms will be made available to students at range.
  • If a student already owns a firearm, they should bring their firearm (with concealed carry holster if owned) to class. Absolutely no ammunition in classroom.
Class Fee is $185.00. A deposit of $50.00 is required with reservation - balance payable on the date of class. Any cancellations must be made a minimum of 2 weeks prior to class date or deposit will not be refunded. Class Fee includes all materials and equipment required for completion. Students must attend (and successfully pass) both classroom and range activities to receive completion certificate. Ammunition is not included.

Refresher Courses (Renewal Requirement)

Refresher classes are not scheduled as individual seminars. Any student that has attended CCW Solutions past training seminar(s) may attend any class (same discipline, except "closed hosted") without charge, at any time. These slots are on a first come first serve basis, subject to availability and must be scheduled in advance (at least one week). Prior students will need to bring the original materials supplied during their initial class. If additional or updated materials are required students are responsible for any fees and charges. If the purpose of attendance is for CPL renewal, a letter of attendance will be provided, free of charge. Plan to attend at least 6 weeks prior to your CPL expiration.
